Introducing Bibelot’s second issue release…

issue ii: sunburn

“Sunburn” is about the heat, intensity and vulnerability that comes with not just the summer season, but about growing up as a whole.

  • “Sunburn” is about vulnerability and feelings so powerful they feel almost electrically charged.

It is both about nostalgia: looking backwards and remembering summertime with one’s friends, family, all of the memorable experiences as much as it is about the opposite of nostalgia — the future.

As summer passes us by, we grow up whether we like it or not. We don’t know the future - all we can do is dive headfirst into the intensity of the unknown.

  • We would love to read and see your artistic work!

As Bibelot is a publication centering on uplifting high school creatives, we accept all kinds of work from students — it can be free verse poetry, a short-scene script, painted illustration or even architectural design.

We do ask that your work relates to the theme in someway. For example, points to create based off of could be “nostalgia” or “summer”. But as long as you write a fitting artist statement, your work will be considered for Issue 2 of Bibelot.

  • Submissions for Issue 2 close on September 8th, 2025.
